RICHARD MAURO

Richard Mauro is a realist painter specializing mostly in figures. Born in Australia his art education began in London where he studied at the South Thames College and then in France under the guidance of french painter Christophe Giral, and four years at the atelier of belgian painter Jean Louis Engels. At the atelier, emphasis was placed on painting models from life much like the academies of the 19th century.
Mauro is mostly intrigued by the proper rendering of light and how we can mimic life, almost fooling the eye, using only a certain number of pigments.
